    Get Microsoft Silverlight In this video, Microsoft's Chief research and Strategy officer, Craig Mundie, discuss how science and information technology can solve the worlds biggest problems. He focuses on the environment and demonstrates work from the Computational Science Group out of Microsoft Research Cambridge (U.K.). Craig discuses the huge leaps in computing power, the shift to a client plus cloud platform, the emergence of more natural user interfaces and the ability to manipulate and understand terabytes of data.

  • Visio – The ideal tool for front end solutions for programmers


    In this video, James Price shows how Visio 2007 Pro can be used as the programmer’s friend in delivering a visually rich and interactive interface for their solutions.  The first part of the video describes how external data can be displayed in almost real time.  The second part shows an example of a simulation where Visio captures data and then publishes it automatically to IE or SharePoint.  The result is to show why Visio is a great tool at providing interfaces, dashboards and POCs.

  • Microsoft is searching for a Developer Tools Program Manger – Open Position

     



    The Developer Tools Program Manager is a member of the Singapore subsidiary Developer and Platform Evangelism (DPE) team. The DPE team’s mission is to secure platform adoption and revenue growth through evangelism, community engagement, relationship marketing and a the creation of a vibrant solutions ecosystem.

    The Role:

    • This role is responsible for planning, tracking, reporting, communicating and driving marketing programs/campaigns for developer tools in effort to uncover business opportunities which deliver revenue.
    • The role will be responsible for providing marketing execution support which includes liaising with vendors for marketing campaigns and events.
    • The Developer Tools Program Manager will be also be responsible in driving the online strategy execution, perception change campaign execution as well as leading the Relationship Marketing engine for the team.
    • Will serve as a v-team member across the subsidary (i.e. working with Business & Marketing Organization, Enterprise & Partner Group Public Sector, and the Small & Midmarket solutions & Partners Group), integrating developer marketing activities effectively with other Business Groups and Segments.

    To be successful in this position, one should have strong business acumen and be able to understand marketing as well as have knowledge of the technology industry. One should demonstrated strong organizational, interpersonal, time management, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.

    The Requirements:

    • 5 - 8 years of related experience
    • Passion for technology and solid knowledge of developer tools marketing (online and offline)
    • Experience with market analytics tools and marketing campaign development/execution
    • Demonstrated track record

  • Improving Application Lifecycle Management Visual Studio Team System

    In this interview with Zhiming Xue at Microsoft, Mike Snell, VP Solution Services at CEI, Microsoft Regional Director and co-author of the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Unleashed book, discusses five key issues that typically exist in the application lifecycle management (ALM) process – requirements tracking, code review, unit testing, automated testing (aka black box testing), and continuous integration.

    Mike speaks each of these five issues from his extensive customer experience and offers his domain expert views and recommended practices, including use of Microsoft tools and systems such as VS 2008 Team System, Team Foundation Server, MSBuild and some non-Microsoft tools such as Ravenflow and RequisitePro for advanced requirements management.     The Microsoft Security Intelligence Report (SIR) is a comprehensive and wide-ranging study of the evolving threat landscape, and addresses such topics as software vulnerability disclosures and exploits, malicious software (malware), and potentially unwanted software.

    Volume 7 of the Security Intelligence Report (SIR v7) covers the first half of 2009 (January through June). It includes data derived from more than 450 million computers worldwide, each running Windows. It also draws data from some of the busiest services on the Internet, such as Windows Live Hotmail and Bing.
